This year I performed a number of site surveys for facilities all over the US. In doing so, I captured a lot of photos from my cellphone. Many of these photos tend to run together and look the same. After a while you can even forget which outbuilding is which or where you were a certain day/time.
This can be really tricky if you, like me, are a little more on the security-conscious side. This is why, I recommend, turning geo-location settings on for your pictures when you are conducting a site-survey.
You can navigate to the Camera application your Android Phone and go to Settings, you can find the required setting.
For a lot of people this may seem like a no-brainer, for others it may be seen as a weak security practice.
For me, it has proved to be helpful on several occasions. It's been a huge help with solidifying my memory of a location while building the documentation for projects and reviewing requirements. Another help I realized this afternoon when I was sending documentation over to another person. Not only do they not have to ask me exactly where I was when I captured certain images, they don't even have to consider if the information is accurate, the tag tells it all!
*On a side note, you need to have this feature enabled to create panoramic photos on your Android Phone as well.
